RAQ/tRAQ for Tuesday September 27th

We will be learning about IONIZATION ENERGY next.

Here is the Boundless section on Ionization Energy

Periodic Trend Video (only watch up to 4:35)

This video shows the "reactivity" of the Halogens (F, Cl, Br, and I).  Pay attention to the difference in reactivity....(note the Brits use prefixes when naming Ionic Compounds....that's a no no)

Resources to Review for Next Class

There is a link to the main Nomenclature (chem-speak for Naming things) Tutorial under the study resources tab. This resource is massive so I have placed specific links found on that sight below to make it easier to navigate.  Each link below can be found in the larger Nomenclature tutorial.

Please look at the following;

Naming BINARY COMPOUNDS with FIXED metal charges  (learn how to name simple ionic compounds)

Below is a video that accompanies the above link.

Naming BINARY COMPOUNDS with only NONMETALS (learn how to name covalently bonded molecules)

Below is a video that accompanies the above link.

Naming ACIDS (learn how to name acids)

Below is a video that accompanies the above link

A periodic table would be helpful.  You can find one here.
(This can also be found under the Helpful Links page)
